New Zealand Tourism Office signs Simplicity for Equipment Disposal and Recycling
E-waste is a growing problem worldwide and responsible governments and corporations are already taking steps to minimize their e-waste footprint. Computers and office equipment is made to last, but often it lasts long after its useful lifetime. As offices upgrade their computers, copiers and mobile devices the e-waste mountain continues to grow and, because of toxic compounds included in the manufacture of computers (lead in CRT screens, PCB fireproofing on circuit boards), disposal in landfill is irresponsible.
The New Zealand government recognizes this and has asked Simplicity to take responsibility for disposal of its office equipment. Simplicity takes a reuse-and-recycle approach, finding new users for discarded equipment, sending eligible items for remanufacture or finally, collaborating with international recycling firms for final disassembly and recycling.
